Many of the County Links on the left will keep you specifically in or near Washington County here in New York's Adirondack Mountains. New links and listings are added so be sure to check back often.

Washington County is a long narrow county located in the northeastern section of the State. It is known for its rich valley farm land and is part of the Great Appalachian Valley (also known simply as the 'Great Valley') which is a long narrow valley strip often between tall mountain ranges. The county transitions from the Taconic Mountains to the Adirondack Mountains, and from the Lake Champlain Valley to Hudson River Valley.

Visit Washington County and catch a glimpse of life that Norman Rockwell could have painted: kids fishing in the Batten Kill; placid holsteins grazing on green rolling hills; rustic old barns and churches, some resounding with beautiful music and fine summer stock theatre; passengers enjoying an excursion by train. Washington County has four historic covered bridges, each listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Buskirk Bridge, Eagleville Bridge, Rexleigh Bridge and Shushan Bridge.

Browse in the friendly shops, where you'll find everything from nuts and bolts and the New York Times to handspun yarn and antique treasures. Take home fresh picked sweet corn, a gallon of maple syrup, a watercolor by a local artist... swim or canoe in our lakes and streams, stroll along the country roads. Have a quick bite or enjoy a gourmet meal in one of the fine restaurants. If there's too much to do in one day, stay overnight in one of the cozy inns.
