Westchester County, NY has a bounty of attractions, including castles, mansions, historical sites, and Playland Amusement Park in Rye. This year-round destination is the gateway to the Hudson River Valley, just north of New York City. Westchester also boasts thousands of acres of parks and nature preserves, museums, performing arts venues, superior shopping, wineries and orchards, public gardens, excellent dining, and year-round, family-friendly fairs and festivals.
Whether you visit for pleasure or business, there are over 5,000 guest rooms in 26+ hotels, motels, conference centers, inns and bed & breakfasts. Westchester is easily accessible, via several major highways, Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad, and the Westchester County Airport. Southern Westchester borders the Bronx in cities Yonkers and Mount Vernon. From the Westchester/Bronx border, Manhattan is less than 15 minutes away. If you ride the Metro-North train, it will take you about 25-30 minutes to reach Grand Central Station on 42nd Street - right in the center of Manhattan. By comparison, from the northernmost points in Westchester, which include Somers and Peekskill, it will take you closer to two hours to reach Grand Central Station.
